In a world where the media would like us to think there is nothing good happening in the country, there’s one man who may have just proved them wrong. Kyle Schweiger, a self proclaimed Kansas City fan and a well decorated Marine, has done something we should all strive to do once in our lives. He’s taken the time out of his day to recognise a child who knows the value of flag etiquette. On Wednesday, February 10th, 2016, Kyle posted this story.
Every day I drive home from work I pass a house & this kid (maybe 7-8) is standing in his yard by the street holding up an American flag. He’s done this on & off for about a year now. Tuesday he had a lil stand set up and was out there with a Kansas, State flag. I stop at his lil stand. When I pulled up, he ran across the yard to prop the flag up against a tree so his hands were free, without setting it on the ground. Let that sink in, because I know grown ass men too stupid/lazy for that kind of flag etiquette. He has a speech impediment, kinda hard to understand but he’s a smart kid. He tries to sell me two bicycles, but warns me one has a flat tire lol I wind up giving him $5 for a kids book he was selling. Dropped it at the library on the way home. I began talking to him about flags and he tells me about his collection (of 4 total). I tell him look kid, I’m gonna bring you another flag tomorrow. After looking like his head was going to explode for a moment, he said, “OK!! What country’s flag?!!” I tell him, “You don’t need another country’s flag. It’s not a country flag, it’s the flag of my people..”
He wasn’t out front when I drove by today, so I dropped it in the mailbox like he asked. I assume he was out back, slaying dragons.
