5.4-magnitude earthquake strikes off coast of Puerto Rico

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of southern Puerto Rico Saturday, jolting some residents from their beds and briefly knocking out energy.

The U.S. Geological Survey stated the quake hit close to town of Ponce, in a area the place lots of of houses had been destroyed in a January temblor, the Related Press reported.

Ponce Mayor Maria Melendez instructed CNN a number of buildings had been broken.
