Superman: What do the first reactions on networks say?
Opinions are shared, but the alchemy between David Corenswet (Clark Kent) and Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) convinced.
It is a film that will not be unanimous, we already know.
While Supermanfirst chapter of the new DC Universe overseen by James Gunnarrives on our screens, the first opinions fell online.
In the wake of the lifting of the embargo on social networks, the first critical feedback gives us an idea of the way in which the new version of the steel man will be received in the coming days. So good or bad?
The criticism Bryan Sudfield qualifies this Superman of “daring but faithful version ” of the DC icon. According to him, Gunn manages to breathe his paw while respecting the character’s DNA:
“Superman ‘takes off with heart, humor and style. James Gunn establishes a new tone while honoring the hero’s heritage. David Corenswet radiates sincerity and strength. A promising and exciting start for the new DC.”

On the side of Brandon Davisthis is the performance of David Corenswet (in Clark Kent) and his complicity with Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) which seduce:
“David Corenswet offers an exceptional version of Superman, sincere, heroic, pure and inspiring. And the alchemy between Clark and Laws is absolutely explosive.”
This alchemy is also underlined by Rachel Leishman which abounds in this sense:
“This superman reminds us that Clark Kent has always been a symbol of hope and kindness. The vision of James Gunn gives the impression of seeing a comic book come to life, with real lightness and communicative joy around one of the most loved heroes.”
David Corenswet portrays an exceptional iteration of #Superman with sincerity, heroism, purity, and inspirational traits.
Corenswet & Rachel Brosnahan’s chemistry for Clark and Lois is off the charts. Their relationship is an excellent driver, especially early. pic.twitter.com/2x2mbOfJDc

Grace Randolphknown for its clear criticism, goes even further:
“This is the best superman film to date. When James Gunn is content to let his work speak, it’s incredible. It’s not perfect, but very close. He made me believe in Gunn’s DC.”
Same enthusiasm on the side of Am meter :
“Superman is filled with hope, love, and explores in depth what a human being means. Corenswet completely embodies the strength and honor of the character. His duet with Brosnahan is electrifying. I loved the action and the ambition of the story. Gunn succeeded.”
This is the BEST #Superman movie to date.
When James Gunn gets out of the way & lets his work speak for itself, it’s incredible.
It’s not perfect, but darn close
& made me a believer in Gunn’s #DCReview embargo lifts TODAY at 3pm EST
& plenty more #DC videos coming! pic.twitter.com/W5UZkAZNgX— Grace Randolph (@GraceRandolph) July 8, 2025
#Superman is filled with hope, love, and deeply powerful themes of what it means to be human. Corenswet completely embodies the strength and honor of the character, and his chemistry with Brosnahan is electric. Loved the action, and ambitious story. Gunn pulled it off! pic.twitter.com/LuUiCj5RRJ

But not everyone shares this excitement.
The criticism Peter Howell makes a discordant note heard: “This is not the super-starter that we expected for the DCU. Gunn is brilliant for the show and the extraterrestrial universes, less to tell a good story.” He also quips on the cast:
“David Corenswet embodies a nice and juvenile superman, but he spends his time being beaten up. He would make a better Dudley Do-Right. Rachel Brosnahan composes a Lane spicy law, Nicholas Hoult in Lex Luthor is more annoying than threatening … And the real hero, is Krypto the super-dog, who steals the show. preferred a film about him. “
#SUPERMAN: Not the super start to DC Universe everybody had been hoping for. James Gunn is brilliant at conjuring spectacle and creating alien realms, not so great at storytelling. David Corenswet plays a boyishly sweet Superman, constantly getting his ass kicked; he’d be better… pic.twitter.com/JDB3LfgLCL

And for a few hours, it’s long criticism of Daily Beast Who makes fans talk on the networks. The site broke the embargo of Warner Bros. and trashe the film, speaking of a feature film “superficial and ridiculous”even downright “Last nail in the coffin of the superheroic genre “.
Superman will be released in theaters this Wednesday, July 9 in France.
The Daily Beast accidentally uploaded their Superman review before taking it down right away.
I would say this doesn’t bode well, but this is the same reviewer who said Sinners was bad. pic.twitter.com/IGgableIcO
