T-shirts emblazoned with the message “Blue Lives Homicide” are for sale on Amazon — and the founding father of Blue Lives Matter NYC is demanding they be taken down, arguing that the message places officers’ lives in danger.
The shirts, manufactured by the corporate COTINAC, are being offered for $19.99 plus delivery, Amazon’s web site exhibits.
Sgt. Joe Imperatrice stated a number of folks throughout the nation have reached out to him, infuriated over the shirts.
He stated he understands tensions are excessive following the police-involved dying of George Floyd in Minneapolis — and the protests that ensued throughout the nation. However shirts like these are simply fueling the anti-cop fireplace, he argued.
“It exhibits that [Amazon is] bending over backwards for this motion like many different corporations are. That’s not OK,” Imperatrice stated. “Folks can’t be making shirts up, turning folks in opposition to [cops]. It’s going to value any individual, greater than probably a police officer, their life.”
“It must be taken down instantly,” he added. “No purpose to let one thing like this slip via the cracks. That is making folks imagine it’s OK to have this mentality and it’s not.”
Amazon didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark in regards to the shirts.
Critiques posted on the Amazon webpage name the shirt “disgusting” and say it “promotes, incites and glorifies hatred.”
Floyd’s dying on Could 25 stirred up nationwide outrage. Law enforcement officials had been assaulted in a number of cities as demonstrations turned violent.
“We’ve received to be smarter than this,” Imperatrice stated. “We’ve got to be smarter than this rhetoric that cops are all dangerous. [Officers are] taking abuse greater than … the likes of any technology.”
Now-fired officer Derek Chauvin — seen on viral video along with his knee on Floyd’s neck — faces a second-degree homicide cost and the three different cops concerned within the arrest have been charged with aiding and abetting.
