Born Again’ Star Charlie Cox On If Netflix Series Is Canon

Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox discussed whether or not the original Netflix series is canon.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio made their returns to their respective roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye respectively last year. Now, the two are set to return for a brand new series titled Daredevil: Born Again, which will be their first time as the principal characters of their own series since the original Netflix series’ cancellation in 2018.

With Charlie Cox’s return to the role, some are curious as to whether or not the first three seasons of Netflix’s original series will be canon to the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe. But while at the D23 Expo, Cox spoke with ScreenRant and clarified how he sees the upcoming show compared to the original:

“Yeah, I don’t know. But my instinct is based on the name of the show, it’s called Born Again, the fact…that Kevin [Feige] talks about it as being a Season 1, rather than a Season 4, my feeling is, this is a whole new deal.”

Fans are still speculating as to whether or not the events of the original Netflix series will factor into the canon of the MCU. Some expressed hope that since the series, along with the likes of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Defenders, and The Punisher will be implemented given that they all moved to Disney Plus as their new streaming home. However, Charlie Cox’s comments hint that this Daredevil: Born Again could be a soft-reboot of source.

That’s not to say that the series will be completely abandoning what was established in the original three seasons from Netflix. A recent report claimed that actor Elden Henson would be reprising his role as Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again, reuniting Nelson and Murdock: Attorneys at Law.

Charlie Cox can next be seen as Daredevil in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Here is the show’s synopsis:

“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law follows Jennifer Walters as she navigates the complicated life of a single, 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk.”

Marvel Studios’ She-Hulk: Attorney at Law stars Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Benedict Wong, Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass, and Renée Elise Goldsberry.

New episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law premiere every Thursday on Disney Plus, while Daredevil: Born Again is set to arrive in 2024. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming MCU series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
