Brussels BLM protesters pelt Belgian king’s car with rocks

Black Lives Matter demonstrations turned violent in downtown Brussels, with protesters setting fires, vandalizing a police car and at one level reportedly throwing rocks on the car of the Belgian monarch.

King Philippe had been touring residence to his fort, the Palace of Laeken, from his workplaces in Brussels on Wednesday when his car was surrounded, in response to native reviews and pictures from the scene.

Photographs from the European Pressphoto Company present the king’s car within the midst of the protest; a pair of safety guards have been on foot defending the car, identifiable by its license plate, which bears the quantity “1.”

There have been no reviews of accidents to the king or injury to his car.

4 folks remained in custody Thursday within the protest, three of them charged with arson.

About 500 folks have been protesting the Saturday police custody loss of life of a 23-year-old black man whose id has not formally been launched.

The suspect had tried to run away from Brussels police who have been implementing COVID-19 restrictions within the metropolis heart, officers mentioned.
