California shooting was the worst Orange has seen since 1997

The shooting that claimed 4 lives — together with a toddler’s — in Orange, California, was the worst in the metropolis of about 140,000 residents since 1997, when a person killed the similar variety of folks, in line with a report.

Arturo Reyes Torres, 41, who was fired as an tools operator for the state Division of Transportation, carried an assault rifle, a shotgun and a handgun when he returned to his office on Dec. 18 that 12 months, the Orange County Register reported at the time.

Bent on exacting revenge for being axed six weeks earlier, Torres gunned down 4 and wounded a number of others, together with a police officer.

Torres was then fatally shot in a wild shootout with police, in line with the information outlet.

The gunman, who had labored for Caltrans for about 15 years, was fired after being videotaped whereas illicitly promoting scrap aluminum from the state facility’s yard, the Register reported.
