The much-anticipated show’s first season started in 2012 via six shows. The 12th season came out in December 2022. Because the group is so busy and skilled, it is likely that the production in Call a Midwife will require its time to make the next episode.

Call the Midwife Season 13 : Trailer release

The preview for Season 13 of Call the Midwife has not come out yet. But in May 2023, a sneak video came out that showed the nurses coming back to Nonnatus House to a new season of problems and successes.

Call the Midwife Season 13 : Cast

A significant question mark is over two characters on Call the Midwife. Lucille, played by Leonie Elliott, left in the middle of season 12 to go to Jamaica after having a nervous breakdown. It’s not clear if she’s going to return back, which makes Cyril’s marriage uncertain.

Also, Nancy (Megan Cusack) has been offered an internship at another hospital, and she wants to take it to help her daughter Colette. For season 12, Sister Hilde (Fenella Woolgar) likewise didn’t come back when Sister Fran (Ella Bruccoleri) left for the Christmas special. However, Thomas confirmed that the door is still open for either of them to come back. But we think the following things will all be there:

  • The nurse Trixie Franklin played by Helen George
  • Nurse Phyllis Crane was played by Linda Bassett.
  • Shelagh Turner played by Laura Main
  • Dr. Patrick Turner is played by Stephen McGann.
  • Sister Julienne played by Jenny Agutter
  • She is played by Judy Parfitt. Joan
  • Sister Veronica is played by Rebecca Gethings.
  • Georgie Glen plays Miss Higgins.
  • Cyril Robinson is played by Zephryn Taitte.
  • Matthew Aylward played by Olly Rix
  • Cliff Parisi played Fred Buckle.
  • Violet Buckle is played by Annabelle Apsion.
  • Reggie Jackson played by Daniel Laurie

Call the Midwife Season 13 : Storyline

Call the Midwife Season 13’s story has not been released yet, but it is likely to follow the show’s practice of looking at the social and medical problems that women and children at East London had in the late 1960s.

As we eagerly await Season 13, rumours and questions about what might happen in it grow. Heidi Thomas, who writes the show, has hinted that there is always action going on in Nonnatus House. As the characters’ stories change, so do the show’s medical and emotional situations that are complicated in the fields of childbirth and district nursing.

It is 1969, and there are a lot of babies happening in hospitals. There is still a lot of demand for maternity beds, but Poplar is still standing strong thanks to the steady work of Nonnatus House as well as the success of home births supervised by the Sisters.

In Season 13, stories from the Sylheti or Nigerian groups as well as the places near the docks will be told. In some places of Poplar, problems caused by bad living still exist, which causes the Nonnatus team a lot of social and health problems.

Brain problems like cerebral palsy, genetic hip dysplasia, tetanus, a condition known as and tuberculosis will be covered in depth this season. The team will grow with the addition of a new group of student nurses. The abortion discussion in the early 1970s will be talked about on the show.

Along with these stories, other major social and political events of the early 1970s, like the rise of women and the Vietnam Conflict, are likely to be looked at. The author of the show, Heidi Thomas, has said that she wants Season 13 to be “both heartwarming and thought-provoking.” She has also said that she wants to look into the “complexities of life back in the early 1970s.”

Season 13 of Call the Midwife will definitely be another happy and sad trip with the women of Nonnatus House. I am interested in seeing how the show deals with the shifts in society and politics in the early 1970s as well as the problems nurses face.

Heidi Thomas, the show’s creator, gave the new season a bit more weight when she said, “Even as man plans to walk on the red planet, we see ourselves contending with life’s eternal queries: Who are we?…And where do we belong?” You might expect season 13 to be a bit more philosophical than the previous years, with people doing more soul-searching as the turbulent 1960s come to an end.

The mysterious tip also tells us when Call the Midwife takes place, since the first manned landing on the moon happened on July 20, 1969. With more seasons coming out, Call the Midwife’s story is about to move into a new time in British history.
