Chilling images capture rescue of man who appeared dead after Beirut blast

A man who appeared to be dead after the enormous explosion in Beirut was captured in a sequence of chilling pictures as he opened his eyes whereas pinned beneath a car.

Reuters photographer Mohamed Azakir snapped the dramatic images after speeding out into the bodies-filled streets of the decimated Lebanese capital within the moments after Tuesday’s blast.

At one level, the lensman came across the bloodied, dust-covered man, who started waving his arms and pleaded for assist amid the devastation.

Azakir referred to as over some close by rescuers and helped them transfer the automotive to free the man. He then switched again to journalist mode to capture the sufferer being placed on a stretcher as smoke billows within the background.

The man’s id and situation weren’t instantly recognized.

“It was like a horror film filmed in a devastated metropolis,” stated Azakir, who has coated Lebanon since 1981.
