Daniel Day-Lewis comes out of his retirement: Annemone trailer

For the first film of his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, the legend at the three Oscars agreed to regain service. And it promises to be mystical.

Eight years after having sworn that he would never put a foot on a set again, Daniel Day-Lewis returns in front of the camera.

Focus Features has just unveiled the first trailer for Anemone (see below), a family drama that marks not only the actor’s return to the three Oscars, but also the beginnings of his son Ronan Day-Lewis to realization. Father and son co -wrote the scenario, while Sean Bean, Samuel Bottomley, Safia Oakley-Green et Samantha Morton Complete the distribution.

The intrigue, located in the north of England, follows a mature man (Bean) who leaves his suburbs to embark on wandering in the forest, where he finds his hermit brother (Day-Lewis). The two men share a mysterious and complex past, which sealed their relationship against the backdrop of traumatic events, decades earlier.

Focus

The last role of Day-Lewis went back to 2017, in Phantom Thread of Paul Thomas Andersonwhich had earned him his sixth native nomination. He had already won the statuette of the best actor to My Left Foot (1989), There Will Be Blood (2007) et Lincoln (2012). Considered one of the greatest actors of his time, he also accumulated Baftas, Golden Globes and Sag Awards.

This is not the first time that the actor has offered an early retirement. In 1997, after The Boxer of From a quiet lionhe exiled to Italy to become a shoemaker, before returning five years later under the direction of Martin Scorsese In Gangs of New York.

Anemone Will be presented as a global premiere at the New York Festival this fall, before a limited release on October 3, then wide on October 10. No French release date for the moment.
