Drake is “Way 2 Sexy” for the Grammys.
The Canadian musician has sensationally withdrawn, according to Variety, his two Grammy nominations from the upcoming 2022 Awards show.
Drake, 35, was nominated for Best Rap Album for his record “Certified Lover Boy” and Best Rap Performance for his track “Way 2 Sexy.”
When reached by The Post, reps for Drake declined to comment. However, an insider close to his camp confirmed to The Post that it was a decision Drake himself made — and the Grammys honored his ask.
The “Hotline Bling” rapper has previously won only four Grammy Awards, including Best Rap Album and Best Rap song. which is far less than his peers considering Jay-Z has won 23 Grammys to date.
The Grammys are considered the music industry’s most prestigious awards, and are voted on by members of the Recording Academy, an elite organization comprised of performers, producers and audio engineers.
Drake was one of five artists in each of the categories he was nominated in. Variety reports that he will not be replaced in either category, and the remaining 4 artists will now battle it out for each of the awards.
The news comes after The Weeknd famously declared earlier this year that he was boycotting the Grammy Awards for good after his album “After Hours” failed to garner any nominations at the 2021 Awards show.
The Weeknd slammed the Grammys in a tweet, stating: “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”
However, the 31-year-old star has now been nominated for 2 Grammys at the upcoming 2022 Awards show. He has received a nod in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for his vocals on Kanye West’s track “Hurricane.”
He has also received nods for this work on West’s album “Donda” and Doja Cat’s record “Planet Her.”
While it’s theorized he will not be in attendance at the show — scheduled for January 31 next year — The Weeknd has not withdrawn any of those nominations as of Monday evening.
