Elderly man shoved by cops at Buffalo protest ‘alert and oriented,’ officials say

The aged man shoved by a cop at a protest in Buffalo is “alert and oriented” early Friday, in response to a county official.

Erie County Government Mark Poloncarz tweeted Friday that the 75-year-old man was listed in critical however secure situation at the Erie County Medical Heart after he was pushed to the bottom by an officer Thursday shortly after a curfew went into impact close to Niagara Sq., not removed from Metropolis Corridor.

“As was relayed to me by an ECMC official, he’s ‘alert and oriented,’” Poloncarz tweeted. “That’s higher information. Let’s hope he absolutely recovers.”

Poloncarz earlier tweeted that the officers concerned within the incident “should be held accountable for their actions” and not simply terminated from the division.

The 2 officers concerned within the incident – video of which went viral on social media – have been suspended with out pay, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown stated.

“I used to be deeply disturbed by the video, as was Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood,” Brown stated in a press release. “He directed a right away investigation into the matter, and the 2 officers have been suspended with out pay.”
