Fans lash out at Anthony Mackie after he shuts down ‘Winter Soldier’ romance

It was a wintry response.

When “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” star Anthony Mackie was requested by Selection how he felt about followers who “outright” need the primary characters, Sam and Bucky, to get romantic, he in a short time shot the thought down — calling it the “exploitation of homosexuality.”

“For me, these days, so many issues are twisted and convoluted,” Mackie, 42, acknowledged. “There’s so many issues that individuals latch onto with their very own units to make themselves related and rational.”

He added, “The thought of two guys being associates and loving one another in 2021 is an issue due to the exploitation of homosexuality.”

For sure, followers of the sequence — particularly those that “shipped” Sam and Bucky as a possible romance — weren’t proud of Mackie’s response.

“Anthony Mackie waited till pleasure month to speak about how annoying it’s for homosexual folks with just about no illustration within the MCU to move [canon] their faves as homosexual,” one upset fan wrote on Twitter.

Because the interview continued, Mackie added that “it was once guys might be associates, we might grasp out,” including that males “can’t do this anymore as a result of one thing as pure and delightful as homosexuality is being exploited by folks making an attempt to rationalize themselves.”

This solely upset followers extra, with one writing, “please cease asking about homosexual transport in 2021 i would favor to be blithely unaware that anthony mackie is so uncomfortable with queer readings of his character that he thinks he can’t grasp out at a bar together with his dude associates.”

Mackie has but to reply to the backlash.
