Five Days at Memorial Season 3 Storyline:
The first five days in a hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, following the landfall of Hurricane Katrina. Exhausted caretakers were forced to make life-or-death choices that would plague them for years
The miniseries Five Days at Memorial is based on the book of the same name written by Sheri Fink. The author was also heavily involved with adapting her work to the screens. Other than her brilliant book, Fink had a mountain of other resources and research at her hand. The photographs she had, helped the design team to really capture the mood at the hospital during Hurricane Katrina.
Hurricane Katrina was a Category 5 Atlantic hurricane, and it occurred in late August 2005, mainly in the city of New Orleans. The hurricane caused flooding around New Orleans and caused the majority of the loss of lives. Almost %80 of the city was inundated for weeks. Journalist Sheri Fink detailed the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina within Memorial Medical Center.
The book is essentially an expansion of her article published in New York Times Magazine, and it won her a Pulitzer Prize. There were many rumors surrounding the events that took place in the hospital. One of them was, that the triage system put into place at the hospital had medical staff euthanize critically ill patients that were too sick to be moved or treated.
All of this was brought to screens in Five Days at Memorial. However, it was first set to be the basis of the FX true crime series American Crime Story. The idea was later scrapped and Apple TV+ adapted the book into a miniseries.

Five Days at Memorial Season 2 Rating & Reviews:
Rating:
Everyone judges a show about their rating. The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances of survival. On IMDb, the program has a good rating of 8.1/10, while on Rotten tomatoes, the show has a 92% average audience rating.
Reviews:
This show is a shoo-in for the Emmys; Cherry and Vera’s performances and the screenplay are outstanding. The federal government failed to rescue these individuals. The nurse who gave the middle finger at Bush’s helicopter was completely accurate.
Gore would have responded better to Katrina and gotten the aid these people required if the election had not been stolen from him. At present, Bush has failed the country and the inhabitants of New Orleans, in addition to two dreadfully mishandled wars.
Mayor Ray Nagin and Governor Blanco, who is a true heroes, did all they could, but Bush and Cheney bear the ultimate responsibility.
Five Days at Memorial Season 1 Review:
Five Days At Memorial is a nail-biting thriller that centers on doctors and nurses at the intensive care unit of a New Orleans hospital. As Hurricane Katrina slams through the city, those at LifeCare and Memorial struggle to cope with the pressure.
Flood water rises, food and water is running out and rescue is hard to come by. Oh, and power in the facility goes out for 5 days.
In the aftermath, those inside Memorial come under questioning for their role to play in what happened to 45 patients who lost their lives. Is there foul play involved? Or is this just another tragedy the government could have done more to prevent?
