Grandfather charged in toddler’s fatal fall from cruise ship avoids jail time

An Indiana man charged in the dying of his 18-month-old granddaughter after she fell 150 toes from a cruise ship in Puerto Rico is not going to serve time in jail.

Salvatore “Sam” Anello, 51, who pleaded responsible to criminally negligent murder in October in the 2019 dying of Chloe Wiegand, was sentenced to a few years of probation Monday by a choose in San Juan.

Anello’s lawyer stated his shopper will serve his probation again house in Indiana.

Anello was along with his household aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise ship Freedom of the Seas in July 2019 when his granddaughter fell to her dying.

He stated he had not been consuming and was not dangling the toddler out of the window, as some experiences claimed shortly after the incident.

The ship was docked in San Juan on the time.

He instructed authorities he lifted Chloe as much as the window of a youngsters’s play space on the ship and was unaware the window was open when she plummeted overboard.

The woman’s dad and mom have a pending lawsuit in opposition to Royal Caribbean.
