Italian cat reportedly catches UK COVID-19 variant from owners

An Italian cat has reportedly been identified with the UK variant of COVID-19 — in what’s believed to be the primary case of a feline contracting the pressure.

The 8-year-old cat started displaying respiratory signs about 10 days after its owners went into quarantine at their dwelling within the northern province of Novara, west of Milan, as a result of they turned sick, the Italian information company ANSA reported.

“This analysis and the identification of the British variant exhibits that the pandemic management and built-in administration programs are efficient and able to reply,” stated Angelo Ferrari, director of the Animal Well being Analysis Institute of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d’Aosta.

The cat and its owners are on the street to restoration, in accordance with the institute.
