Kevin Feige Let Sam Raimi Keep This ‘Corny’ Scene In Doctor Strange 2

Sam Raimi revealed Kevin Feige originally wanted to cut a scene he thought was “corny” in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Marvel Studios is known for being heavily involved with the editing process of their films, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was no exception. This time around, Kevin Feige reunited with Sam Raimi years after working on the original Spider-Man films together.

Kevin Feige was reportedly so happy with his experience working with Sam Raimi on the Marvel Studios sequel that he’s looking for another seasoned director for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.

The Raimi Cut Prevails!

Many Marvel fans were pleased to see that Sam Raimi was able to put his personal touch on Multiverse of Madness. On the commentary track for the film, Raimi revealed that Kevin Feige did want to cut the staredown between Doctor Strange and Baron Mordo, which was an homage to  The Quick and the Dead. Raimi went on to say that Feige ultimately let him keep his “corny” scene in the final cut:

“Thanks. And I think Kevin thought maybe it was a little corny, and he wanted to cut it out. But I said, ‘Please, Kevin, let me have that.’ He went, ‘Okay, fine. Have your corny stuff.’ It was very, very kind of him, generous”

Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the Marvel film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, John Krasinski, and Patrick Stewart.
