Lindsay Lohan is finally getting her happily ever after — and marrying into one of the most prominent families in Kuwait.
The former child star, who moved to the Middle East to escape the constant attention from paparazzi, announced her engagement to financier Bader Shammas on Sunday, flaunting a massive diamond ring from Harry Winston on Instagram.
Posting photos of the pair entwined in each other’s arms, Lohan, 35, wrote, “My love. My life. My family. My future.”
Lohan said “Yes” last week when Shammas proposed in Utah, where he’s joined her on the set of her new movie as she makes her Hollywood comeback, according to friends.
The actress’ father, Michael Lohan, told The Post of Shammas: “He’s not a Hollywood type, you don’t see any pictures of them in the press. That was one of Lindsay’s problems — the paps encroaching on her and coming up with stories. It was tough. But she’s with a guy who doesn’t like the limelight.
“She’s relaunching her career and you want a good person in your life when you hit that restart button,” he added. “Everyone’s happy. Lindsay got her life back when she met him, she’s been living a really happy and healthy life.
Although he had liked some of his daughter’s past loves, like “That ’70s Show” star Wilmer Valderrama, Michael’s pleased she’s away from the “Aaron Carters of the world,” a reference to her singer boyfriend from nearly 20 years ago. He added that her ex-fiancé, Russian playboy Egor Tarabasov, “isn’t the best guy.”
He’s now looking forward to walking his daughter down the aisle as she weds Shammas. They haven’t set a date yet, but Michael said: “You can see how much they love each other in their eyes. I’ve never seen Lindsay so in love … All I care about is that he’s a regular guy. I know that Lindsay wants kids. She’s amazing with kids.”
So far, the only information publicly known about 34-year-old Shammas is that he’s an assistant vice president at Credit Suisse in the United Arab Emirates, and that he attended the University of South Florida and the University of Tampa, studying mechanical engineering and finance.
Lohan has gone to huge lengths to not be too public about her love, who, sources confirm, she has been dating for more than three years, not two as previously reported.
In February 2020, she deleted an Instagram photo of herself and Shammas, who she called her “boyfriend” in the caption, to keep him out of the spotlight.
“Lindsay wanted to be very careful about maintaining Bader’s family’s privacy and not upsetting them,” one friend told The Post.
The Post is told that Shammas comes from a prestigious background, as his is one of Kuwait’s first Christian families. Most of Kuwait’s Christians descend from 12 large families, with Shammas’ originating from Turkey. Raised Catholic, Lohan will marry Shammas in a church, according to a family source.
Reached by The Post Monday, a cousin of Lohan’s fiancé said that it was important to note that the family are Kuwaiti citizens.
“We are a special family,” said the cousin.
A friend of Lohan said that Shammas had nothing to do with her career, adding: “They only just got engaged, so Bader’s with her, of course, but he’s not with her on set.
“His family are extremely private, so who knows how they will handle all of this. I just know that Lindsay want to be protective of them.”
The couple is now in the mountains of Utah, where Lohan is making her acting comeback in the Netflix holiday movie “Christmas in Wonderland,” co-starring “Glee” actor Chord Overstreet. The rom-com involved “amnesia” and a “handsome lodge owner” and is due to air in 2022.
Asked about the engagement, the actress’ mom, Dina Lohan, told The Post: “My heart is whole. For a mother, there is nothing more important than to see your children happy and loved. Her beautiful new journey begins … I am beyond happy to have Bader as a part of my growing family.
Lohan moved to the UAE around 2015, and in 2018 she told Emirates Woman: “Moving here was a fresh start. You hear more about real current events rather than celebrity gossip, which I really appreciate.”
She explained at the time how she was off the party scene and instead spending her nights watching movies at home: “It’s not like I’m going out at night much, it’s a very different lifestyle for me. I moved here for that purpose — I don’t have to be publicly seen all the time, or discuss what I’m doing.”
Still, Americans are likely to see more of Lohan soon, thanks to her Christmas movie and other upcoming projects.
“Lindsay has tried to stay out of the US, but she’s back and forth now,” a close Lohan friend told The Post. “She’s got a lot of good stuff coming up.”
