After the shocking end of season 6 of the British police show Line of Duty in 2021, fans were left wondering if there would ever be a season 7. The police procedural show, which debuted in 2012, is about a committed Detective Sergeant that is sent to the Central Police Force’s Anti-Corruption Unit and finds corruption among his own officers.
Instead of following the standard framework of a police investigation, Line in Duty stands because it focuses on the people and their stories. The show started on BBC Two, but in 2017 it was moved to BBC One, which is the main BBC station.
Through its years on TV, Line of Duty got mostly good reviews from both reviewers and viewers. The show has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes right now. Line of Duty the 7th season was supposed to be the last season of the popular cop show, but many fans were let down by the sad ending.
Fans didn’t like the season 6 episode at all, and some even came up with a “fake ending” idea to explain it: the season. This 6 finale was just a smart trick to get people excited about what would happen next with the show.
Line of Duty Season 7: Release date
Before the start of Line of Duty season 6, the show’s director, Jed Mercurio, wouldn’t say much about the show’s future. The BBC was asked to say something about this, but they turned down the requests.
Season 7 of Line of Duty isn’t officially accepted yet, but if it is, we may have to wait a long time. There is no set schedule that says this crime drama has to air in March or April. However, that’s when it has historically done so. Right now, it looks more likely that the Line of Duty is going to be back on show by spring 2023. However, Mercurio might still be able to write and tape the next season in time for 2022.

Line of Duty Season 7 : Storyline
An idea about a fake finish to Line of Duty has gotten a lot of attention online. If the seventh season ever airs, it could actually change how the story goes. The end made it pretty clear that the Buckells’ reveal wasn’t genuinely the whole story about who HE was.
As AC-12 tries to figure out the web, they could find themselves stuck in the middle of a far bigger plot. Or, the show could think that the H secret is solved and give Hastings and his friends a whole new case of corruption to solve.
It doesn’t matter what the story in Line of Duty the seventh season is; six seasons were already enough. Mercurio has said in the past that he sees how the narrative will end. What we still don’t know is if this ending is the same one that happened in the entire season six episode.
In a discussion with the BBC in March, a Line of Duty scriptwriter said that they were working on “not having to conclude things up” before the most recent stretch of episodes. This means that there continue to be places for the action to go.
Fans of the show, created by Jed Mercurio, can look forward to an exciting and intense journey through London’s police force which will keep them thinking until the final moments. The big surprise at the end of season 6 makes it possible that AC-12 keeps going to look into and find high-level crime.
We can only guess that Steve Rich, Kate, and he and Steve will be driven to get justice for those who hurt them, regardless of whether it requires placing their lives in danger again. Everyone is still thinking about John Corbett’s death.
It doesn’t matter what happens next with this show; Line for Duty has grown to be one of Britain’s most beloved series since it began. Since we’re all waiting for news of a seventh season, why not watch part six again and see the extent to which this team encounters? The Line in Duty team, led by Jed Mercurio, has a lot at store for us in Season 7. We can’t wait to see it.
