No Way Home’ Villain Was Almost Kraven

Tom Holland revealed at one point in development, Spider-Man: No Way Home pitted the wall-crawler against Kraven the Hunter.

After the secret identity of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker was revealed at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, many assumed the sequel would see him hunted down by Kraven. Instead, we are getting an epic multiverse story with No Way Home featuring several villains from previous Spider-Man films.

As it turns out, Kraven the Hunter was going to be the villain of Spider-Man: No Way Home at one point. Tom Holland told Collider that director Jon Watts shared an alternate storyline featuring Kraven the Hunter:

“For a long time, there was going to be a Kraven movie that was going to be the third movie because things weren’t working out and all sorts of different stuff. Jon pitched me this Kraven movie, which actually was really cool. I don’t want to talk about it in case that movie ends up happening down the line, but it was fun.”

While Kraven the Hunter isn’t set to appear in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony is developing a solo film starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. J.C. Chandor is set to direct the project from a script written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is umasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Marvel’s latest stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.
