Oscar Isaac creates the Frankenstein monster for Guillermo del Toro: trailer

Jacob Elardi becomes the mythical creature of Mary Shelley in this very promising Gothic adaptation for Netflix.

“By looking for life, I created death …”

After his Oscar for The shape of the water and his Pinocchio animated, Guillermo del Toro continues to revisit myths with its unique sensitivity. And its version of Frankenstein promises to be as gothic as it is heartbreaking. Is that what the first vibrant trailer is revealed online by Netflix (see below).

The Mexican filmmaker carries the classic of Mary Shelley on the screen in his own way, where Victor Frankenstein, “A scientist as brilliant as he is egocentric, gives life to a creature in the context of a monstrous experience that will tragically lead the Creator and his creation to their loss.

Guillermo del Toro assures that his ambition is less horrific than intimate: “It’s a very personal story. As personal as possible. I ask questions about authorship, parentage … I don’t make a horror film. Never. This is not what I am looking for.”

That said, the video in question is particularly dark and still suggests a very disturbing atmosphere around a killer monster.

Oscar Isaac embodies the famous Dr Victor Frankenstein. The five -star cast also brings together Mia Goth in the role of Elizabeth, Ralph Ineson in professor Krempe, Christoph Waltz A Harlander, one Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery et Charles Dance in still secret roles.

The release of Frankenstein is expected for November 2025 on Netflix.
