Oscar Isaac’s Spider-Man In ‘Across The Spider-Verse’ Won’t Make Jokes

Oscar Isaac has revealed that his character, Spider-Man 2099 won’t make jokes in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.

Back in 2018, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse debuted and quickly became one of, if not the most popular film in the franchise. While it wasn’t a massive moneymaker, it did go on to win the Oscar for Best Animated Picture. The post-credits scene, however, indicated that this would not be the last time we see these characters.

In the scene in question, Spider-Man 2099 appeared voiced by Oscar Isaac who began making his own jumps throughout the multiverse. The character will return for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, though it isn’t entirely clear what role he will play. However, in a recent interview with ScreenRant, Oscar Isaac hinted that his character will be the serious guy in a room full of clowns

“It’s been really fun working on that with Phil Lord and Kemp Powers. The thing I can say is, what makes this character so funny is that he’s the one Spider-Man that doesn’t have a sense of humor. Because all of them act like– they’re like wisecracks, right? Everybody wisecracks, except this guy just doesn’t. He’s a very serious Spider-Man.”

Here is the synopsis for the highly-anticipated Spider-Verse sequel:

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.

Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Dave Callaham, the film features the voices of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Oscar Isaac, and Issa Rae.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is currently set to be released on June 2, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
