Quentin Tarantino gives his opinion on the film Netflix on Cliff Booth

Podcast guest The Church of Tarantinothe director of Reservoir Dogs explained not to be annoyed that the film is going directly on Netflixeven if he admits to hope for a limited outing in theaters despite everything:
“It is not their economic model, so I don’t hold it against them. But I would not be surprised if they were still a two -week outing, at least to a certain extent. And for big cities, there will probably be projections, especially because they will want the film to hit the Oscars.”
Tarantino also remembered the experience in the Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and the lack generated by streaming:
“Seeing him with an overexcited audience for three weekends, it was strong. If no one had come, it would not have had the same value.”
Besides, the filmmaker remains a little perplexed in front of the money invested by the streamer in this kind of film:
“It’s the biggest budget I have ever had! We are around $ 200 million. And the box office, we don’t care. It doesn’t mean anything. They don’t care. It’s like playing with casino money …”
Quentin Tarantino will therefore follow the project but will not direct it, when he had initially planned to carry out this sequence centered on Cliff Booth himself. Except that once the script writes and the preproduction launched, he quickly felt like he was walking in the footsteps of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood :
“I love this scenario, but I was still traveling the same field. There were no questions, no challenge. The boat was necessarily going to arrive safely. And it demotivated me. For my last film, I must not know what I do. I have to go back to unknown territory.”
No release date has yet been announced for The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
