A pair of youngsters allegedly set a man on fire inside his own home in upstate New York.
The boys — ages 14 and 16 — are accused of spraying the sufferer with a flammable liquid and lighting him on fire whereas he sat on a chair in Rochester on Friday afternoon, the Democrat & Chronicle reported Monday.
The sufferer, a man in his 50s who was not recognized by police, suffered second- and third-degree burns over 70 p.c of his physique, based on the newspaper.
The man is in important situation and “preventing for his life” at Robust Memorial Hospital, Rochester Police Capt. Frank Umbrino mentioned.
The older teenager was arraigned over the weekend and the 14-year-old was arraigned on Monday — with each going through first-degree assault and second-degree arson expenses, the Democrat & Chronicle mentioned.
Police haven’t launched their names as a result of they have been charged as juveniles.
Authorities are nonetheless investigating how the teens knew the sufferer and are trying to find any extra witnesses or suspects within the case.
“The investigation is underway to find out if that is an intentional legal act or an accident,” Rochester police informed WROC-TV, including, “that is an energetic investigation.”
