Dave Bautista transforms as Bane for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman universe in this concept design.
With Matt Reeves’ upcoming film The Batman starring Robert Pattinson just three months away from hitting theaters, fans are eager to see what the acclaimed director will bring to the Caped Crusader. With new takes on the titular hero as well as numerous villains from the rogue’s gallery set to be introduced, some are curious if we will end up seeing a new version of Bane as well – perhaps with an actor like Dave Bautista taking on the role.
Ever since he broke out in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy, Dave Bautista went on to take on interesting roles to expand his range as an actor. His work with Denis Villeneuve in Blade Runner 2049 and Dune showcase a desire to hone his craft, and his performance as the protagonist of Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead indicate a sense of humanity and an every-man quality that is very different from his persona as the strong, yet slightly dim-witted Drax the Destroyer.
Given Dave Bautista’s physical presence and acting choices, some see him as a good fit as the next Bane. In this concept design from Jaxson Derr, we get an interpretation of how the former professional wrestler-turned-actor could look like as Bane in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman universe. You can check it out down below:
Given that it looks like Dave Bautista is ready to move on from Drax the Destroyer and the MCU after he finishes work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it would be interesting to see him jump ship and join DC, which he previously expressed interest in doing following the brief-firing of James Gunn, who went on to write/direct The Suicide Squad.
Here is the synopsis for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman:
Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.
When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman will hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the future of Bane in the DC Universe and Dave Bautista, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
