See Willem Dafoe As The Joker For Robert Pattinson’s The Batman In Pic

A new concept design imagines Willem Dafoe becoming the Joker to square up against Robert Pattinson in The Batman.

One of the most anticipated films coming out in 2022 is Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, which is set to be a darker and grounded take on the Caped Crusader. Set to hit cinemas in March, the film will feature a variety of Batman villains, including The Riddler, Catwoman, and The Penguin. Unfortunately, Batman’s arch-nemesis the Joker won’t be appearing in the film. That hasn’t stopped fans from speculating who could play the Clown Prince of Crime for the upcoming DC film.

A number of names have been suggested, including Eternals star Barry Keoghan. Keoghan would be great in the role as a young, more inexperienced Joker, not unlike Robert Pattinson’s Batman, who is only in his second year as the Dark Knight. However, if director Matt Reeves wants Pattinson to go up against a more rugged and experienced Joker, then he should look no further than Willem Dafoe.

Willem Dafoe has been a fan favorite as the Joker for years. Dafoe and Pattinson previously worked together in The Lighthouse, which is pretty much a Joker origin story if you think about all the chaos and destruction those two got up to in the film. While it’s unclear if Willem Dafoe is in the running to play the Joker, artist Bobby_Art has imagined what the star would look like as the infamous villain.

Willem Dafoe is currently set to return as the Green Goblin for  and was last seen in Aquaman as Vulko. The star has his plate full with superhero fare, but here’s hoping he returns to genre to go up against Robert Pattinson’s Batman.

Here is the synopsis for The Batman:

Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman will hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
