Stranger Things‘ Maya Hawke has had some thoughts about what she would like to see for her character, Robin, in the upcoming fifth season and possibly in a spin-off series.
Stranger Things‘ fourth season was recently released on Netflix, leaving fans excited for the series’ epic conclusion in the upcoming fifth and final season. One note many fans have had is that they were expecting Season 4 to have a higher body count – and it sounds like Maya Hawke is expecting Season 5 to deliver on that front.
The actress recently revealed she would like to see Robin get a heroic death in Season 5 or, failing that, go and enjoy the ’90s in a spin-off with Joe Keery’s Steve.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about her Stranger Things future, Maya Hawke shared her hopes of seeing Robin’s story come to an end with a moment of heroic sacrifice in Season 5.
Hawke noted that, as Season 5 is confirmed to be the final season of Stranger Things, there’s likely to be a higher body count than has been seen in previous seasons. However, she also noted how the Duffer brothers, who write the show, are often reluctant to kill their characters because of the love they have for them.
Maya Hawke said of Robin’s potential Season 5 fate:
“Well, it’s the last season, so people are probably going to die. I would love to die and get my hero’s moment. I’d love to die with honor, as any actor would. But I love the way that the Duffer Brothers love their actors. The reason that they write so beautifully for me and for everyone else is because they fall in love with their actors and their characters, and they don’t want to kill them. I think that’s a beautiful quality that they have, and I wouldn’t wish it away.”
When pitched a Stranger Things spin-off featuring Robin and Steve by the interviewer, Maya Hawke showed an immediate interest in the idea, singing the praises of Steve actor Joe Keery:
“Where we go to New York and we’re just partying in the clubs and figuring our s*** out. Normally I wouldn’t really be a proponent of a spinoff, but if I got to do it with Joe Keery, I would do anything. He’s so funny and wonderful and smart, and he’s got great boundaries. He’s an excellent coworker, and I would do anything with him.”
Season 4 of Stranger Things ended with Robin starting to bond with her crush Vickie. While many fans are rooting for a romance between the two, Robin will first have to contend with the Upside Down colliding with Hawkins.
Here is the synopsis for the fourth season of Stranger Things:
“It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”
Created by the Duffer Brothers, the Netflix series stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Brett Gelman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco, and Joseph Quinn.
All four seasons are available to stream on Netflix. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the show’s upcoming season and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
