Suzume Special Storyline:

Suzume Iwato, the 17-year-old heroine of Suzume no Tojimari, is followed as she embarks on a coming-of-age journey around Japan, shutting doors that, when opened, unleash chaos and calamity. They find one in the Japanese highlands that leads to a catastrophe that almost destroys her community after meeting a guy who is searching for these doors.

Suzume no Tojimari will undoubtedly contain gorgeous landscape, much like Shinkai’s past movies, as it tells an engaging story via a road movie set all throughout Japan. The soundtrack for Suzume no Tojimari sounds just as fantastic as the one for Your Name! The teaser also delivers a sample of the song that Shinkai’s movies are renowned for!

The title of the new movie in Japanese is Suzume no Tojimari. The title of the narrative relates to Suzume, a 17-year-old girl who lives on Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan’s major islands.

According to the movie’s website and key visuals, the movie’s narrative, which centres on a mystifying white door, is referred to as tojimari in Japanese. Tojimari is Japanese for shutting or locking doors.

The entrance is situated between several ruins between two mountains. Only Suzume has the ability to seal this mystical portal, which presents the danger of catastrophes and tragedies. The title of the film in English is “Suzume’s Locking Up.”

Makoto Shinkai, the director, said: “We must consider how to lock the several gates we left open. Suzume is in charge of shutting doors as she travels around Japan, a duty I gave her. My earnest wish is that after seeing this movie, viewers will be filled with joy as they leave the cinema. This is “a narrative about closure,” Shinkai noted.

The press release provides further insights about the storyline. Suzume, a 17-year-old girl, encounters a young guy looking for a door in the town of Kyushu (which ties back to the themes Shinkai mentioned). The main character stumbles across a worn door that unlocks gateways all throughout Japan. Suzume must rescue the day and figure out how to seal these portals since they seem to inflict damage everywhere they open.

The main image shows Suzume the first door in the midst of a dilapidated and flooded region, which “mesmerises” her. That could provide some insight into the setting of the story. Could this movie take place in the same world as Shinkai’s previous two movies? All we can do is wait and see.

Suzume Special Cast:

Eri Fukatsu plays Tamaki Iwato, Suzume’s aunt; Matsumoto Haku II plays Hitsujir Munakata, Sota’s grandfather; Shta Sometani plays Minoru Okabe, Tamaki’s colleague; and Sairi It plays Rumi Ninomiya, a single mother raising twins. Suzume first meets Chika Amabe, a vibrant young woman her own age, in Kobe; Kana Han
Suzume will be voiced by Nanoha Hara, and Souta Munakata by Hokuto Matsumura, it was previously disclosed.

The soundtrack for the next movie will be composed by RADWIMPS and Kazuma Jinnouchi, with Toaka of Tik tok fame singing the theme song, “Suzume.”
