A 17-year-old boy died and 20 different individuals have been injured — together with an off-duty cop left struggling for her life — when gunfire broke out at a block party early Sunday in Washington, DC, police stated.
Teen Christopher Brown, who has a 1-year-old son, was killed when a number of shooters opened fireplace round 12:20 a.m. on Dubois Place within the Greenway neighborhood of Southeast Washington, information station WJLA reported.
“You had DJs, everyone was down there. It was more ladies than males,” resident Nelson Bostic — who stated the gathering had been a birthday celebration — informed information station WTOP.
“Subsequent factor you already know, it was like Beirut out right here. It seemed like machine weapons and every part else that was happening out right here.”
Footage posted to social media from the second photographs rang out confirmed a whole bunch of partygoers screaming and working from the scene, the Each day Mail reported.
DC Police Chief Peter Newsham stated the victims included an off-duty cop who’s now within the hospital “struggling for her life.”
The opposite victims have been introduced to varied hospitals for non-life-threatening gun wounds, information station WUSA reported.
Newsham stated police consider the capturing was an remoted incident.
“There was some sort of dispute, and a number of weapons have been produced, and a number of photographs have been fired,” Newsham informed reporters Sunday.
Brown’s mother, Artecka Brown, stated her son was an harmless sufferer and “simply wished to attend a neighborhood party.
“Lots of people know him as only a good individual. … He was a king,” she informed WUSA. “And that was an harmless life taken for no purpose.”
No arrests have been introduced in connection to the capturing.
