Mockingbird (also known as Tommy) had just took a seat with Margot to ask about his stolen narcotics last time we saw him. Margot attempts to negotiate at first, but when Alice’s brother says he has taken over every other criminal family in town, Margot loses all hope of a successful discussion.
The owner of the Kensington company really has no option but to return the cargo and joins his payroll since he has no friends to speak of (or, you know, die). When Margot has had 24 hours to decide, he will phone and give her the delivery location.
Margot ultimately picks up the phone after he leaves and learns of Tessa’s abduction. After debating for a little while with Alice, Ben, and Rhys over who is to blame for Tessa being taken by Felicity, who they assume wants the Kensington company to herself,
she admits the firm is no longer around because of Mockingbird. Yet, getting Tessa back is now more important, so when Felicity calls and proposes a swap (Tessa for Margot and Rhys), they accept the conditions.
Ben persists on doing things his way even though the brother and sister want to arrive with weapons blazing. The group will show up unarmed (with Alice and Val keeping an eye on the situation from a respectable distance and Danny acting as a makeshift sniper), carry out the exchange, and then shoot out the tyres of the getaway vehicle to rescue Margot and Rhys at the last second.
Your assumption that the strategy won’t work is accurate. Turns out Tessa and Felicity were working together all along, information Val and Alice learn just in time. The 15-year-old con artist grabs a revolver and threatens to shoot Ben if Alice doesn’t allow them get away unharmed just as they inform Ben through earphone that they have been set up. Without any other choices, Alice goes to Rhys’ house to ask Justine and Ethan for assistance. She ends up leaking the information about Ben’s love child with potential FBI target Margot Bishop.
