The Last Airbender’ Rounds Out Its Cast

Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is rounding out its cast by filling in key roles.

The live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is currently shooting in Vancouver, Canada. Netflix’s latest live-action adaptation of the anime is one of the most anticipated projects the streaming service has in the works. The series has rounded out its main trio, as well as fan favorites like Uncle Iroh who will be played by Kim’s Convenience star Paul Sun-Hyung Lee.

Today, Netflix has announced that key players such as Azula, Suki, and Avatar Kyoshi have been cast. The sister of Zuko, Azula will be played by Elizabeth Yu. Suki, one of the fiercest warriors in the franchise, will be portrayed by Maria Zhang. The legendary Avatar Kyoshi will be played by Yvonne Chapman.

Reservation Dogs star Casey Camp-Horinek will star as Katara and Sokka’s grandmother. Finally, Cobra Kai‘s Tamlyn Tomita will star as Suki’s mother, Yukari.

Production on the first season of the series is currently underway. Netflix recently canceled the live-action Cowboy Bepop series after one season, which leaves many hesitant that the same fate will be suffered by the Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Here is the synopsis for the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series:

With the Fire Nation on the brink of global domination, a young girl and her brother discover a 12-year old Airbender who reveals himself as the Avatar. Will this irresponsible kid accept his destiny in time to save the world?
