The Witcher Season 3 Release Date, Cast, Storyline, Trailer Release, and Everything You Need to Know

Now that the show is in its third year, what does that mean? The season is scheduled to be themed around the following long-form Witcher book, Time of Contempt. There will be some continuity with the first novel and even some ideas in the third novel, which makes it an even more unique telling of the story instead of season 2’s Blood of Elves.

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who runs the show, says it’s “the culmination of what we’ve been building regarding all along.” Let’s review what we have learned concerning the third time so far and figure out what it means.

The Witcher Season 3 : Release Date

In the video for the upcoming season of The Witcher, a lot of important new information was shown. To begin, the video revealed that season 3 of The Witcher will be split into two parts. Netflix also announced when the two parts for Season 3 of The Witcher will be available. This is in line of the showrunners’ original statement that Henry Cavill’s final performance as Geralt in Rivia would be available in the summer at 2023:

Volume 1 for Season 3 of The Witcher (episodes 1–5) will come out on June 29, 2023.

Volume 2 of Season 3 of The Witcher (episodes 6–8) will come out on July 27, 2023.

The Witcher Season 3 : Trailer

On April 25, 2023, the first teaser for Season 3 of The Witcher came out. This is the first public look at the conclusion of Henry Cavill’s time on the show. Geralt drinks medicine, draws his sword, and says, “Now, for the first time, I know real fear.”

The words that “all changes” shown on-screen next to shots of Ciri running away of the Wild Hunt, Tseng fighting Rience (who has been replaced), or Geralt, Yennefer, or Ciri trying to uncover each other in a kind of maze add to the end of the third season. We might see a Manticore in season 3 of The Witcher if it stays true to what happens to the book Time from Contempt.

The Witcher Season 3 : Cast

The following actors have been cast in season 3 of The Witcher. Of course, The Witcher wouldn’t be complete without its main characters. We know that Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Bayer as the lovable bard Jaskier will all be returning for this new series.

However, we’ve since found out that Henry Cavill will be retiring after this third movie and will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. We expect Triss Merigold (Anna is Shaffer) and the other witches to be back in the next season now that she knows what Ciri is really capable of.

We also expect Geralt’s fellow Witchers, Vesemir ( Korea Bodnia), Leslie (Paul Bullion), or Coen (Yasen Atour), to come back after making it through their experience in Kaer Morhen in the last episode of the first season. There will be four new stars on the show for season 3, and Netflix has announced their names.

The Witcher Season 3 : Storyline

New information about The Witcher season 3 says that the story is scheduled to be based on Time of Contempt, the second book in Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher Saga. In this book, a political drama on Thanedd Island turns into a full-on coup, and Geralt of Rivia is caught in the middle of it.

When Yennefer tries to teach Ciri magic, things go horribly wrong, and Ciri is eventually taken away from her guards. Also, Cahil’s story took a turn for the better when he joined forces with Geralt known as Witcher instead of fighting him.

The official Netflix summary for Season 3 of The Witcher confirms what we already knew: Geralt will hide Cintra and, at Yennefer’s help, avoid beasts, kings, witches, and the elements during the Wild Hunt.

Notably, Blood of Elves was made into The Witcher season 2, but it wasn’t exactly the same. Also, the real story about Ciri’s parents was revealed a lot faster than in Sapkowski’s books. The Netflix show clearly doesn’t always stick to the books, which has been a big complaint from people who have read the books for a long time and other viewers who want the show to stay more true to Sapkowski’s original idea.

No matter what, it’s clear that the main plot of the third season continues to involve Emhyr/Duny’s search for his daughter. We already knew that this season would be centred around Time of Contempt, the second book to Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher sequence, thanks to a tweet from Lauren Hissrich, who runs the show.

The official story description for season 3 of The Witcher on Netflix goes into more detail about what that means. It says, “Kings, wizards, and beasts from all over the continent are trying to catch her, but Geralt hides Ciri of Cintra to protect this newly reunited family from those who want to destroy them.”

Yennefer, who has been teaching Ciri magic, takes them to the safe fortress of Aretuza in the hopes of learning more about the girl’s hidden powers. Instead, they find themselves on a battlefield where politics are rigged, dark magic is used, and betrayal is common. They need to stand up and fight back, or they could lose each other forever.

What’s going to happen at Season 3 of The Witcher is broken down in a big way on Tudum. In season 3, the stakes are much higher because Ciri is seen as perhaps the most strong being in the Continent and is being sought after by fighting groups.

Wars have been a threat for both of the first seasons, but now they’re really close. Our main three characters have to figure out ways to keep each other safe.
