The family, who decided to disconnect her and donate her organs, are seeking justice for the death of the woman and her friend Christy Giles, who were drugged by strangers and then stranded on the sidewalk of two hospitals.
The relatives of the young Mexican architect Hilda Marcela Cabrales Arzola decided to disconnect her from the devices that kept her alive, after being abandoned by strangers in front of a Los Angeles clinic two weeks ago and suffering brain death during her serious hospitalization.
Last Tuesday, November 30, Hilda Marcela’s family reported that they would disconnect the 26-year-old girl and donate her organs to nine different people. “We know that she would not have wanted to be in the state as she was these last 15 days“, declared his father, Luis Cabrales Rivera, as reported by television channel ABC 7.
The Mexican architect and her friend, model Christy Giles, 24, went out to party in the early hours of Saturday, November 13 in Los Angeles. After attending a nightclub in West Hollywood, the women went to an apartment in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood, where they were allegedly drugged by unknown subjects.
The families of the two women lost communication with them. By late Saturday afternoon, the young model was found dead on a sidewalk in front of the Southern California Hospital in Culver City. At night, Cabrales Arzola was abandoned in front of the Kaiser Permanente clinic in West Los Angeles.
Cabrales Arzola was found in serious condition and, according to a toxicological test, the Mexican architect had heroin in her body. The families of the two young women reported that they had been drugged by strangers.
The Cabrales Rivera family has requested information to clarify what happened during the tragic weekend of November 13 and 14. Meanwhile, Hilda Marcela’s father told local media that he will seek to do justice for his daughter’s death.
On November 22, Officer Juanita Navarro, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County sheriffs, warned about the “drastic increase” of cases of young people, mainly women, who were drugged by strangers at parties or clubs.
