The victim, Amanda Albach, was missing for 18 days and was buried on a beach in the state of Santa Catarina.
The Brazilian Police found this Friday the body of Amanda Albach — a young woman from the state of Paraná, who was missing for 18 days– on the beach of Irapirubá Norte de Laguna, in the state of Santa Catarina.
The day before, three people, a woman and two men, were arrested as suspects in the crime and one of them revealed to the Police the place where the body was buried and confessed having killed her with two shots and forced to dig her own grave. The crime would have taken place on November 15.
Missing
Albach, 21, was last seen on November 14, when she attended a party in the city of Florianopolis. According to police chief Bruno Fernandes, from the Criminal Investigation Division, the young woman, who lived in Fazenda Rio Grande, metropolitan region of Curitiba, arrived in Santa Catarina to attend a friend’s birthday.
“It was this bond that brought her [a la víctima] to this house in Santa Catarina. He came to celebrate this person’s birthday, “explained Fernandes.
Meanwhile, on November 13, the young woman shared a photo on her social networks, revealing that she was in Imbituba. Her family confirmed that the girl undertook a trip to that municipality with a couple of friends to spend the holidays on November 15. However, her acquaintances claimed to have seen her for the last time during the celebration.
“These friends of hers said they left the party and haven’t seen it again,” said the family’s attorney, Michael Pinheiro. However, the Police found “inconsistencies in the statements“, which aroused suspicion of his involvement in the disappearance of the young woman.
The crime
According to Pinheiro, the last contact the family had with the young woman was on the night of November 15. “She sent a message to her parents, around 8:40 p.m., saying that she would return to Fazenda Rio Grande at dawn. Since then, there has been no more news of her. The cell phone is off and Amanda has never accessed WhatsApp again.” explained the lawyer. The Police reported that their relatives noticed that his voice was strange and that there was wind in the background of the audio. One of the detainees confessed that the murder occurred moments after sending that audio.
The reason
The clarification of the motive for the crime is still under investigation, but the agents have a preliminary hypothesis: “One of those investigated felt uncomfortable because he realized that Amanda had told third parties that he would be involved in the drug traffic. He would have even taken a photo of a gun he had at home and sent it to these people. He did not like this situation and that is why he decided to take his life, “Fernandes reported, adding that the alleged perpetrator of the crime feared being denounced.
The Civil Police has not ruled on the participation of the other two suspects in the crime.
