The Plot Of Tick-Tick-Boom:
The movie is based on the personal musical by “Rent” writer Jonathan Larson. It’s about a young man who wants to be a musician and resides in New York City within 1990. He worries a lot about whether he chose the right path for his job.
Larson did the work as a single, and it had its Off-Broadway opening in 2001, just five years after Larson had died. Larson went on to compose the hit musical Rent, but he died terribly the day before the first test performance of that show.
His writings were often about things like addiction, racism, and sexism, among other things. Netflix says that the movie is about Jon, a young stage composer who works at a New York City diner within 1990 while composing what he thinks is going to be the next major American musical. Jon is played by Andrew Garfield.
Jon is feeling pressure from all directions days before a performance that could make or break his career from his lover Susan, who wants to be an artist outside of New York City from his companion Michael,
who has given up his dream for a life of financial security and from the AIDS epidemic, which is destroying the artistic community. Jon is at a crossroads, and time is running out. He must decide what to do with the time he has, which is a question everyone must answer.
