Tiffany designer Elsa Peretti’s iconic cuff inspired by Italian church crypt

Famed jewellery designer Elsa Peretti — who handed away in March — was inspired to create her well-known “Bone Cuff” bracelet for Tiffany & Firm by a spooky childhood reminiscence.

“Elsa favored to inform saucy tales, and he or she favored to say that when she was a baby, she would go off to a 17th century church [in Italy], and there was a crypt,” historian Marion Fasel stated throughout a 92Y discuss this week.

When her mom informed her to take them again, Peretti would say, “There’s nothing macabre about it.”

Peretti died in her sleep at age 80 on March 18. She additionally created Tiffany’s Bean design and Open Coronary heart Pendant.
