Danny Carey, the renowned drummer for rock band Tool, was arrested for misdemeanor assault at Kansas City International Airport after getting into an altercation with a security guard, according to reports.
Airport police were called to the terminal at the airport around 7 p.m. local time on Sunday evening, when Carey was detained following the argument with another man in the terminal.
According to TMZ, the drummer shoved the man in the chest with two fingers, shouting “”You’re a f*****g f****t!” several times. It’s unclear what led to the argument.
The other man was not taken into custody, KCI Airport spokesman Joe McBridge told Fox 4. Carey was no longer in custody on Monday and was released on a bond.
Video of Carey’s arrest obtained by TMZ shows the 60-year-old drummer wearing a Kansas City Chiefs jersey. At one point, he tells officers that he is the drummer for Tool as they put him up against a glass window and cuff him.
The incident report has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review and to determine if he will be charged with a crime, Fox 4 reported.
Carey, a Kansas Native, joined the Kansas University Basketball Pep Band at the Missouri vs. Kansas college basketball game on Saturday afternoon.
He is one of the founding members of Tool, who formed in the late 1980s and have won four Grammy Awards over their career.
