Keoghan told US Weekly before the first season of Tough as Nails that he was motivated to do the show by his working-class family history, especially the fact that his grandfather had to avoid going to school at the age of 13.
“He was a very smart kid who didn’t get to go to college. Instead, he became a great mechanic and then a war mechanic in World War II. I was so impressed by his abilities and what he could do, as well as what my carpenter grandfather could do. I learned that there are many different ways to learn, even though education is very powerful and important for getting ahead.”
Tough as Nails season 4 Contestants:
The Tough as Nails season 4 trophy will be up for grabs between 12 competitors from different fields. Here’s who fans should keep an eye on this season:
Tough as Nails Format:
The people who make Tough as Nails have not said that the format will change. But they might make some changes, and if they do, they should let everyone know soon.
Twelve people compete in challenges at real job sites that check their strength, stamina, life skills, and mental strength. The contestants take part in 6-on-6 team challenges, individual competitions, and “Overtime” battles in which one person is eliminated from the competition.
Unlike the other actual fact contests, contestants who lose eradication challenges do not have to quit the competition and still have the chance to win more prizes all through team competitions.
The winning team in each team competition gets $12,000 ($2,000 for each member) and a Badge of Honor. At the end of the season, the team with the most Badges of Honor gets an extra cash bonus of $60,000 ($10,000 for each player). If both team members share the identical number of Badges of Honor, they will have a tiebreaker.
Phil Keoghan has been the host of the show since the first season, and he is likely to keep that job for the next season.
The main idea behind Tough as Nails is to show respect for the US workers who roll up their sleeves every day to keep things running smoothly. Yet this continues to be a show about a real competition. So, the 12 contestants put their real-world skills to the test at real job sites, such as building projects, welding, fishing, farming, carpentry, and more.
Contestants are eliminated until there is only one left, who wins the grand prize of $200,000 plus an extra cash bonus.

Tough as Nails Review:
The first episode of this season was amazing. Each candidate brought something great to the table, showing how real individuals can collaborate together just to try and force each other to be their best.
You can see how badly everyone wants to win, but more importantly, how much they want to prove they can win. Because of this, you want everyone to do well. Despite being removed, they stay for team contests, which is a nice touch that makes each show more interesting. One of my favorite competition shows is this one.
The last three competitors were from the same school: Lia, Jerome, and Quincey. There were still a few surprises in the show. Lia won! She won a huge amount of money and the championship title in a very surprising way. We also like that after the winner was announced, we were told what was going on with each participant.
