US Coast Guard rescues skier mauled by bear on Alaska mountain

A skier was mauled by a bear in Alaska’s backcountry earlier than a dramatic Coast Guard rescue over the weekend, officers stated.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter airlifted the person out of hazard after he suffered accidents to his head and fingers when a bear attacked him on a mountain northwest of Haines on Saturday, the US Coast Guard stated in a press release.

The person was flown to Juneau the place he obtained medical consideration. The sufferer stays in steady situation in Anchorage, Alaska State Troopers stated.

Two different skiers escaped the world with out accidents, officers stated.

The group unknowingly entered a den the place a bear and its cubs had been dwelling. The bear got here out and attacked the skier in self-defense, based on state troopers.

The Alaska Division of Fish and Sport and the Alaska Wildlife Troopers are investigating the incident.
