Directed by Dominique Filhol, Valensole 1965 – Inspired by a true story – also features Matthias Van Khache in the staging of a news item that has shaken up a small village in the South.
With this drama, Dominique Filhol A major challenge: to tell a mysterious event – still not elucidated today – which rocked France 60 years ago. Always in the vein of his latest film, a documentary entitled UFO: a States Affairthe French filmmaker explores the news relating to UFO. In Valensole 1965he chooses to linger more on the consequences that such a discovery can have on a small rural village of Provence.
Synopsis : “Valensole, Provence, was 65. At dawn, Maurice Masse, a peasant, discovers in his lavender a mysterious device that takes off at a staggering speed leaving traces on the ground. The news attracts crowds and puts Maurice in the spotlight. Faced with this sudden unwanted notoriety, he tries to protect his family and to face. His life, that of his family and this small village will be upset.”
Casting side, it is the duo of actors made up of Playing Vahina (Blueberry, the secret experience) et Matthiah van khache (Lady Blood) which embody the main roles. Dominique Filhol also signs the script for this film, inspired by a real fact. By revealing the first images of his work, we can already see that emotion will be there. The director attacks a strong event of the year 1965 but with a very present humanity.
Valensole 1965 will be to discover in theaters the July 9, 2025.
