Wakanda Forever’ Massive Runtime Reportedly Revealed

The runtime for Marvel’s upcoming film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has reportedly been revealed and it’s a long one.

In mid-2020, Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman died after a battle with cancer. By this point, the second film in the franchise, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had already been in development. This led to the question of whether or not the character would be recast or if the series would go in another direction.

The first trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was revealed at 2022’s San Diego Comic-Con, showing it would be the latter. This begged the question as to who would wear the iconic outfit, with recent LEGO sets and FUNKO Pops suggesting it will be Shuri. Regardless it now appears that the film will have a long time to figure out who will be T’Challa’s true successor.

According to Cineplex‘s website, the film will clock in at two hours and forty-one minutes. The runtime has since been taken down but, if true, it will make it the longest-running solo Marvel Cinematic Universe film to be released. The current longest-running solo film is Eternals which clocks in at two hours and thirty-seven minutes.

Here is the synopsis for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever:

“In Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.”

Directed by Ryan Coogler from a script he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole, the film stars Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Tenoch Huerta, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett.
