Willem Dafoe teased that the Green Goblin has some exciting new qualities in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
In one of the highlights from Sony Pictures’ presentation during Brazil CCXP 2021, we got a special panel featuring three of the primary antagonists of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx sat together to discuss their returns as Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Electro respectively.
The return of Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin got fans particularly excited. His portrayal of Spider-Man’s archnemesis in Sam Raimi’s 2002 film is highly regarded as one of the best performances of its kind in the genre, and has certainly led to constant memes out of love for his work rather than at his expense. With him coming in to make Peter Parker (Tom Holland) live through Hell in No Way Home, don’t be surprised to see some new ideas coming from him this time around.
During the CCXP 2021 panel, Willem Dafoe gave fans a hint in regards to what the Green Goblin will bring to the story this time around, and Spider-Man will certainly face perhaps his most threatening villain yet:
“It looks a little different…Old Norman and the Goblin are further down the line and they have a few more tricks up their sleeve. So it’s not an exact — There have been upgrades on the costume, let’s say.”
Willem Dafoe makes his triumphant return as Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Here is the synopsis:
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”
